Rev. Dr. Severson was born in Calhoun County in Edison, Georgia to the late Mr. Lucious B. Severson Sr., and the late Mrs. Annette H. Severson. Dr. Severson received his early education in the public schools of Calhoun County. He has studied at Bethany Theological Seminary the Albany Chapter where he received his Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Ministry. He received his Doctorate of Theological Studies from the Bethany Divinity College and Seminary, Dothan, Alabama - The Albany Center.

 

Dr. Severson is married to the lovely Mrs. Grace Mallard Severson. Dr. Severson was called to the ministry in July of 1961 and has been proclaiming the good news of the gospel to this day. Our Pastor has pastored several churches in the State of Georgia and Alabama.

 

He currently serves and has faithfully served the congregation of Union Missionary Baptist Church for the past thirty-four years. Under his leadership, many have developed a relationship with Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior of their lives. Many physical changes have taken place under his leadership; He organized many new ministries and outreach ministries in the community.

 

Dr. Severson is the past moderator of the Camilla Missionary Baptist Association, Co-Founder of the Christian Unity - a bibacial organization, Past President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Dougherty County, Founder and CEO of the Union Mission Outreach Center, Co- Owner of The Guyton Brothers Funeral home in Bainbridge, GA, member of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, and The National Baptist Association.
